It has been my privilege to practice exclusively as a Hand Specialist in San Diego since the completion of my training in 1989. While the delivery of medical care has changed drastically over the past 12 years I am pleased to retain my independence as a solo practitioner. I am Board Certified in Orthopedics and Hand Surgery and seriously pursue the new advances in my field.

It has been my pleasure to work for Dr. Balourdas since 2003. I am now his Office Manager and my job is to make sure that everything runs smoothly. I wear a lot of hats in the office but my first priority is patient care and I take great pride in getting all jobs done well. In my spare time I enjoy Bass fishing with my Husband of 17 years and my 13 year old son. I invite you to visit our charming office, I look forward to meeting you. Having just recently moved to San Diego from Texas, I feel very blessed to have found such a wonderful Doctor’s office to work with. I support Dr. Balourdas as his Nurse Assistant, so it is my responsibility to coordinate patient care. I schedule surgeries and arrange for tests or referrals. I can also help answer any questions about your treatment plan. I am currently working my way through Nursing School and adjusting to newly-wed Navy life with my wonderful husband. The highlight of my job is working personally with each patient to ensure a speedy and effective recovery. Preventative medicine and proper management of your condition are our top priority. We devote our practice to patient care and education. Our goal is to teach you how to recognize and control the early symptoms of conditions involving the hand and upper extremity. Early treatment can prevent more extensive and expensive intervention. When conditions arise which require surgery, our focus is on speedy functional recovery. This requires informed and enthusiastic patient participation. We offer a wide selection of reading material to help explain specific disorders involving the hand and upper extremity.

Patient Involvement: My staff and I work as a team. It is our goal to provide a comfortable atmosphere in which you will receive medical treatment. You will be informed of the most advanced technology and knowledge available regarding diagnosis and treatment of the condition or injury involving your hand and arm. As doctor and patient, you and I will discuss the best treatment for your condition, and, together, we will decide the best course of action for you. Your treatment is also likely to involve the input and care of a specially trained Hand Therapist.

Continuity: To ensure continuity of your care, we are pleased to provide your primary-care physician and your referring physician with reports of your consultation and follow-up treatment.

Office Locations: Our office is located in Mission Hills. There is ample, convenient street parking.

Hospitals: Dr. Balourdas has privileges Sharp and Coast Surgery Center.

Appointments: Dr. Balourdas has scheduled appointments and handles emergencies throughout the week. Elective surgical procedures are scheduled primarily on Tuesday and Friday. We do our best to accommodate your busy schedule, but occasionally unexpected emergencies do arise. If Dr. Balourdas is delayed due to surgery or an emergency at the hospital, we make every effort to contact you prior to your appointment to minimize your inconvenience. We realize your time is valuable, and we want your experience in our office to be a pleasant one.

Emergencies: Dr. Balourdas is available for emergencies 24 hours a day. After office hours and on weekends, our answering service takes your call and quickly relays any messages or emergencies directly to Dr. Balourdas. If Dr. Balourdas is out of town, another qualified physician is always on call. If your situation is critical, dial 911 or go directly to the emergency room closest to you.
